Actor Varinder Ghuman dies: India’s 'first' vegetarian bodybuilder suffers heart attack; played role in Salman Khan's ‘Tiger 3’

Bodybuilder and actor Varinder Ghuman (42) died at a private hospital in Amritsar on Thursday evening. He won the Mr India title at the annual national bodybuilding championship in 2009 and was awarded 2nd place in Mr Asia. Said to be the world’s first professional vegetarian bodybuilder, he also acted in movies and music videos. He was the first Indian to secure the International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBF) pro card. He played a lead role in the Punjabi film ‘Kabaddi Once Again’ in 2012. He also played a role in ‘Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans’ in 2014, in ‘Marjaavaan’ in 2019, and ‘Tiger 3’ in 2023. His family owns a dairy farm. His younger brother died some years ago in a mishap. It is learnt he had a problem with one of his biceps and went for its surgery when he suffered the heart attack.
