Bluehill Capital, SOSV, and other global investors participated in the round. The Hyderabad- and US-based biotech startup will use the funds to develop gene therapies to treat kidney diseases. More specifically, the funds will speed up preclinical development of the company’s lead candidate for Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) — an inherited disorder affecting about 12 million people globally and nearly 5% of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients in India. To date, Helex has raised over $6 million in funding.
