ChatGPT Bids Farewell To WhatsApp: OpenAI Ends Support For Chatbot On Instant Messaging Platform

OpenAI has discontinued ChatGPT on WhatsApp after Meta updated its Business API rules, restricting third-party general-purpose AI chatbots. The service, launched in December 2024 via a dedicated number, had over 50 million users. OpenAI advised users to link their WhatsApp number to a ChatGPT account to retain conversation history across platforms.
