Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Devender Yadav on Monday criticised the BJP-led Delhi Government for lack of concrete measures to tackle air pollution, alleging that the first day of the winter session of the assembly was marked by “meaningless debate” and hollow claims. Yadav said the Lieutenant Governor’s address to the House failed to spell out any concrete proposals to provide permanent relief to Delhiites from hazardous air pollution. He alleged that the address made no substantive reference to pollution control or to the alleged corruption of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, as highlighted in Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports and instead focused on praising the present government. He claimed that despite being in power for around 10 months, the Rekha Gupta government had not ordered any probe into the irregularities flagged in the CAG reports relating to the previous AAP regime.
