Congress leader Rahul Gandhi presented the Priyadarshini Literary Award to veteran writer and critic M Leelavathy in Kochi. Calling her an icon for the nation, he praised her discipline and writings, while warning against a “culture of silence” he described as cowardice. Leelavathy thanked Gandhi and donated the prize money to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.
