The Professional Women's Hockey League announced the award of an expansion franchise to Detroit, with operations set to begin in the 2026-27 season. Backed by Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, the team will play at Little Caesars Arena. The 2026 PWHL Draft is scheduled in Detroit for June 17.
