IMD director general Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said such overlaps were responsible for this Augusts intense downpours. "Northwest India saw three such active interactions in Aug, which led to incidents in Dharali (Uttarakhand), Kishtwar (Jammu & Kashmir), Jammu, and Mandi (Himachal Pradesh)," he noted.
