Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe Rahul Gandhi's allegations of attempted mass vote deletion in the Aland Assembly constituency during the 2023 Karnataka elections. The SIT, headed by an Additional Director General of Police - CID, was established after Aland MLA B.R. Patil filed a complaint concerning 6,670 voters allegedly removed from electoral rolls. While Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission of protecting 'vote chors,' the EC denied the claims, stating only 24 out of 6,018 deletion applications were approved after verification. The SIT is vested with police powers and will submit its report to the courts and the state government.
