Mira Kapoor says she lost 1.5 kilos following a gut health ‘detox’

Mira Kapoor, 31, recently shared the benefits of a gut health 'detox' programme, emphasizing that while she lost 1.5 kilos, the primary goal was feeling lighter, less puffy, and extremely rested, noting the underrated value of sleep. Her programme included Ayurvedic therapies like abhayanga (oil massage), shirodhara (oil pouring on the forehead, working neck up), and a potli massage , which uses herb-filled cloth bags on the torso to reduce inflammation in muscles and tissues. She also incorporated a sound healing session, which she felt triggered significant emotional purging and release. Consultant dietitian Garima Goyal explains that such structured reset programs work not by "flushing toxins" but by correcting habits—improving sleep, reducing digital noise, and promoting hydration—which collectively lower inflammation and water retention, leading to visible results like reduced puffiness and better skin tone. The key benefit of the Ayurvedic therapies and sound healing is their effect on the nervous system, shifting the body out of "fight or flight" mode, which reduces cortisol, deepens sleep, improves digestion, and aids emotional processing. Goyal stresses that these experiences are best viewed as a reset, with the lasting health benefit coming from translating these insights—like better sleep hygiene and mindful eating—into a consistent daily routine, where weight loss is merely a byproduct of improved metabolic balance.
