India will halt new hydrofluorocarbon production projects from January 1, 2028. This move aligns with the nation's commitment to the Kigali Amendment, requiring a freeze in HFC consumption by that date. Reductions will follow from 2032. The environment ministry has directed all relevant bodies to enforce this directive, ensuring India meets its international climate obligations.
