China’s Communist Party has pledged to accelerate scientific and technological self-reliance amid growing global uncertainty. The decision followed a key four-day meeting on the country’s next five-year economic plan. During the session, General Zhang Shengmin was promoted to vice chair of the Central Military Commission, replacing the previous holder.
