A routine bail hearing at the Supreme Court of India took an unusual turn when a bench led by Justice Vikram Nath expressed skepticism over the existence of Vanuatu, comparing it to the self-proclaimed nation of "Kailasa". The defendant, an accused in a cheating case, claimed citizenship of this Pacific island nation, prompting the bench to observe, "There is no country like that". Vanuatu is a sovereign archipelago of 83 islands.
