Suzlon had entered Europe in the mid-2000s as part of an aggressive global push, marked by its acquisition of German wind turbine maker REpower. The move gave the company a strong manufacturing and technology base in Europe, but the debt-fuelled expansion proved unsustainable after the 2008 financial crisis.
