Satish Golcha, the Director General of Tihar Jail and a 1992-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the new Delhi Police Commissioner, succeeding SBK Singh. This significant development follows a recent alleged assault on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta by Rajesh Sakariya at her official residence during Jan Sunvai. While Sakariya cited the Supreme Court's directives on stray dogs as his motive, police suspect a deeper conspiracy behind the attack. In response, the Centre has accorded Z-category CRPF security to CM Gupta, and Sakariya is currently in police custody facing attempt-to-murder charges. Golcha brings extensive experience from various key positions within the Delhi Police and as DGP of Arunachal Pradesh.
